Redevelopment and extension of the Porsche Experience Centre (PEC) at Silverstone Circuit, including the expansion of the existing PEC building and related car parking.
The PEC was originally constructed in 2007 and later expanded in 2014. It houses a variety of uses including a car show room, hospitality, offices and a workshop. The new extension looks to increase the floor area by enclosing the accessible roof terrace into an internal space and extending out the existing building horizontally in all directions.
The extension will allow Porsche to expand their leisure and hospitality offerings and host larger commercial and corporate events. The redeveloped building will also include a large entrance foyer and vehicle display space, classic vehicle restoration workshops, expanded restaurant facilities and outdoor viewing terraces as well as meeting rooms and driving simulation suites.
The approach to the structural design is to retain as much of the original frame, slabs and fabric of the building where possible to suit the new layouts and wrap additional matching framing to the outside.
