Background:

MNP undertook detailed design to renovate and vertically extend the existing steel framed office building to provide 36,000 sq ft of Grade A office space. The architect introduced various features to increase the appeal of the building such as glazed fins and feature overhangs which were incorporated within the structural design. Strengthening of existing connections, columns and foundations were critical in making the proposed scheme viable.

The ground floor façade, which was originally inset, was redesigned in line with upper floors to increase the total floor area and improve visual appearance. The structure adopted a hybrid stability system with bracing and moment frames to allow for the increased height. With large expanses of glazing, modernised façade and enhanced internal layouts, the project successfully revitalised the dated existing office structure.

Partners on the project included Trehearne Architects, Tuffin Ferraby Taylor LLP project managers and Cundall M&E consultants. John Paul Construction contractors delivered the finished building.
