Folkestone Skate Park

A world-first skate park on the Kentish coast.

We worked with Guy Hollaway Architects on a scheme to design the world’s first purpose-built multi-storey skate park – a key element in the regeneration of Folkestone by Sir Roger De Haan.

It’s a big engineering challenge: an irregular, free-form concrete frame, with ramps, bowls, banks, ledges and rails. As you might expect, our 3D modelling experience was key.

Our design calls for uniquely shaped columns and floor plates, curved soffits following ramp profiles, tapering cantilever slab edges and mesh façades.A climbing wall will span three floors and a basement will be home to a local boxing club. A rooftop terrace will look over Folkestone and the English Channel.

The result will be one of Britain’s most unique buildings – and a new Folkestone destination.
