Volunteering activities at MNP

Helping local communities in Hertfordshire and London

Over the past week, we have taken part in two volunteering activities, allowing the team to spend time away from their desks and help local communities.

We returned to Church Farm in Ardeley, where we carried out seasonal activities such as harvesting fruit, weeding, planting and strimming, along with maintenance tasks including building a ‘rabbit road’ and boarding the ceiling of a toilet block.

It’s always a pleasure to help out at Church Farm, who do so much through their Rural Care programme by providing training and work experience opportunities for people with learning disabilities and/or mental health issues.

Our second activity was in the capital, where we volunteered at Soup Kitchen London, as part of their Street Outreach initiative. After making sandwiches and packing food parcels, the team were taken on a 3 mile walk around Central London, visiting known areas where homeless and vulnerable people reside, distributing the food parcels and engaging with the individuals.

It was an incredibly eye-opening experience to speak to those living on the streets and to hear the challenges they face, which gave the team a greater understanding of the issues affecting rough sleepers in the capital.  Soup Kitchen London are inspirational with the work they do, supporting nearly 200 people every day.  You can read more about their work here
