Modular construction for new residential development

MNP are providing civil and structural engineering services for this redevelopment in Basildon, with deconstruction of the existing structures and construction of an 11-storey residential building.  The new development will house 245 apartments, with commercial and community spaces on the ground floor.

The proposed build is to adopt a volumetric modular form of construction, supplied by Swedish designer SIBS, above a first floor podium structure.  The modules are prefabricated and can be linked to form a complete building, with the load bearing structure comprising of steel posts and beams.  Adopting the modular construction will enable a faster and more sustainable construction solution. Along with delivery services MNP are supporting SIBS in achieving UK accreditation for the system.
