Construction is progressing rapidly on MNP’s latest façade retention project in Hackney working with EHW architects. This mixed use scheme will include a full-footprint basement set under the Victorian façade of the former James Taylor building; a very prominent landmark in this part of London.


The basement is formed using a contiguous piled perimeter wall with a 10 storey flat slab concrete frame above. The basement will house parking and offices, with further offices at ground floor level. The upper floors will comprise 52 apartments with between 1 and 4 bedrooms each.


MNP have managed complex temporary works coordination to thread towers through favourable locations in the proposed building in order to retain the original masonry façades. Main contractor Bowmer & Kirkland Building Services (BKBS) commenced construction in July 2012 with a contract period of 72 weeks.
