Background:

This Grade II listed, 6-storey townhouse in Knightsbridge was remodelled to open out its interior; including the basement, ground and first floors to feature a lightwell with terraces, climbing plants and structural glazing.

Working with Lawson Robb architects and interior designers for a private resident, Mason Navarro Pledge sensitively designed an elegant structure to open up the basement, capturing the light. The floors and roof were strengthened as part of the general refurbishment.

According to Alix Lawson of Lawson Robb, “Mason Navarro Pledge have been very responsive, testing the existing structure and highlighting weaknesses from previous alterations. The new structural elements are unobtrusive and integrate extremely well with the brickwork, glass and other materials.”
