Background:

The famous 1920s Art Deco building opposite Mornington Crescent tube station was originally constructed in the Egyptian Revival style as the Carreras cigarette factory. MNP have designed major structural alterations for three internal fit out projects, for a leading finance company and an international advertising agency.

MNP designed the structure for an open plan Cat B fit out for the finance company offices, situated on the fourth level.  This comprises a 25,000 sq ft open plan office, reception area, meeting rooms, phone booths, cellular offices, tea points and canteen, ancillary spaces and mezzanine level cellular meeting rooms suspended from the concrete roof.

MNP worked closely with Spacelab architects as well as: Project Manager Devono; Quantity Surveyor, Robert Mayes Associates; M&E Engineers, Taylor Project Services and main contractor, BWI Interiors throughout the fast-track 11 week construction programme.

MNP have also worked closely with ad agency client WPP RKCR and architects Spacelab, to make structural alterations to the company’s flagship office in a £2.25m fit out project.

MNP reconfigured the existing cellular office space into an open plan environment with a diverse mix of alternative workspaces to support the business and aid collaboration within the agency. The project also involved adding a new staircase through the building.
